Pump Bypass Closeup
This video is a close up visual illustration of a pump that is bypassing oil into the lube box reservoir. When this occurs compressor parts (cylinder rings & rider bands or the rod packing gland) are not receiving the correct quantity of oil & unfortunately the operator or mechanic cannot see this problem. The video demonstrates what can take place when the lubricator pump is damaged, either from excessive clearance between the piston & bore on a new pump, or from wear or excessive oil supply pressure on the inlet of the pump. Notice: It has been proven that excessive inlet pressure on a pressurized suction lubricator pump, can cause the oil to bypass the piston and flow into the lubricator reservoir.
